Scratchpad is a very simple web application developed primarily for experimentation and demonstration purposes.
It uses CouchDB for storing all the data, my own couchdb-python to talk to CouchDB from the Python web application code, the Python syntax highlighting package Pygments for, well, syntax highlighting of snippets, and Genshi for templating.
Spam Filtering
Posted snippets and comments are checked against the Akismet service to fend off most of the inevitable spam, though it might also flag a legitimate submission as spam. In that case, there's not much you can do, sorry.
Privacy
This site will store some of your preferences (such as the tab width and syntax highlighting style) as cookies in your browser. For convenience, the cookies are set to expire only after about two weeks. Your IP address is logged in the database when you post a snippet or a comment.
